GUIDING PRICIPLES: As a charitable organization led by concerned individuals of Danish descent, the guiding principles and values of the Danish Senior Citizen's Apartment Foundation are as follows. All activities of the Foundation, including the management of Dana Village, will be guided by the Golden Rule - " Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Providing for seniors in a caring and sensible way is a tradition among the Danish people, and one the Foundation wishes to continue and extend to others,regardless of nationality. All activities of the Foundation will be undertaken in an ethical and trustworthy manner. The Foundation will communicate regularly in an open and honest manner with its members and residents. The general manager of Dana Village is empowered to make decisions relative to things that need to be done in the short term, and is expected to treat all people fairly and equitably. The Foundation, as trustee of funds invested by residents in life-leases, will endeavour to manage the property and invest funds in a safe and secure manner, not using high-risk investments. The Foundation has a long term vision of providing an assisted living program' for aging in place', such as nursing assistance, cleaning, laundry service, meals and shopping services. These services are now available through outside home care providers, and information is presently coordinated by the general manager.
